I appreciate Mayor Zoltanski's letter that was posted this week regarding the 2023-2024 Budget. In response to her request that we make our priorities known, please note that my TOP priority for capital projects is the rebuild of Fire Station #31. I think the vote of five members of the City Council in favor of dedicating 20 million dollars, when it becomes available, to rebuilding Alra Canyon needs to be reversed and that money should be directed to the fire station. It would be a tragedy to lose members of the SFD and the equipment stored in that facility if it were to suffer further damage during an earthquake. The resources needed would likely be unavailable when they are needed most. I realize that it will take time for the money to become available due to property sales, etc, but I hope funding this project will be the Council's HIGHEST priority.
