Gold Star Memorial Monument - This monument is a really big deal to a lot of military families. This monument is to honor all walks of life of those service men and women who sacrifice everything for our freedom. This monument is going to be a place for families of the fallen & for our the living service members that need a place of solitude. As a Marine Veterans Wife, and being the best friend of SSGT Hoover, this is a place that I am looking forward to visiting as often as possible and the thought of this monument in my hometown, brings me great joy. My husband has visited other cities Gold Star Monuments when he needs peace of mind and clarity, so having one so close to home would mean the world. Please, please, please from the bottom of my heart consider supporting this amazing monument.
With respect to redistricting, I would like to know what the impact of annexation on population will be over the next 10 years. In other words, how much will the population in each district change if all the unincorporated county islands within it are annexed between now and the next national census?. Also, I am curious about the source of the numbers displayed in the bar graph. Which parameters are used to estimate the population each intervening year?
I don't think dividing Historic Sandy is a good idea. I understand the need to balance the council districts but I think this should be done by moving more recent subdivisions and leaving the historic district together. The Sandy City Historic Preservation Committee is charged with maintaining the look and feel of this area. It will be easier to do this if it is treated as a contiguous neighborhood. The Historic District boundaries are 8400 South on the north, 700 East on the east, 9000 South on the south, and State Street on the west. I am opposed to encroaching on this area.
