Actual issue is being sidelined here all together and expecting someone else to play cop, actual issue here is coaches using the tennis courts for hours and sometimes occupying multiple courts. If you look at Cottonwood Wood Heights policies, coaches need to register with city and they need to reserve the court time and they have to pay some amount to city as coaches make money out of these courts which are built with tax payers money. Also in South Jordan, if anyone have to coach they need to register with sjc.activityreg.com and following is taken from South Jordan City Recreation “ Scheduling of courts is for private use only, any lessons, classes, etc must be scheduled through South Jordan Parks and Recreation.” At CHRC tennis courts have boards with following message "Lessons on these courts must be authorized by CHRC. Violators will be cited. Any questions, please call 943-3190" .

It is sad the main issue is not being addressed, which is related to coaches doing business or selling something in our parks without proper procedure or license or approval from Sandy City.

There are many instances where coaches uses our tennis courts for multiple hours and sometimes they hire someone to teach in second court too, also students who come for classes use 3rd courts before or after classes which is making real impossible for sandy residents to use flat iron mesa park and sometimes we have to run to different parks to find open spots.

Last time we had to run to Bicentennial park to play tennis as tennis courts at Flat Iron Mesa park has all been occupied by coaches, and tennis courts at Bicentennial are poorly managed with lots of cracks on courts.

So the real situation here is that the tax payers are burdened to find alternatives when coaches are using the courts for commercial purposes. If similar policies such as Cottonwood heights or South Jordan are undertaken. We need to put some restrictions towards commercial usage of our tennis courts, as I don't see any restrictions towards this in our Sandy City because of that some coaches are misusing our courts and running their private tennis academy on our public courts. Because of that our Tennis Courts has become haven for coaches and this needs to be stopped.

I hope you consider this option as the council meets and discuss this issue and please come up with notice board similar to what CHRC or South Jordan City, if we don't coaches will further misuse our tennis courts.
