One of the potential advantages of ranked choice voting that I was most excited about was the hope that it would make campaigns more positive and focus on
the qualifications and priorities of the candidates and eliminate the negative campaigning I have seen in the past. I have been pleased that except for one questionable unsourced statistic, that has been the case in my district. Sadly, I received a piece of campaign literature today that was negative and reported the voting records of some of the City Council Members completely out of the context in which the votes were taken. I view the use of the voting records and the omission of pertinent facts as unethical and unacceptable. Any candidate using misleading statitics or negative campaign strategies will not be selected for any position on my ranked choice ballot. Thanks to the majority of candidates who demonstrated that it is possible to campaign for the position and not against the other candidates.
