Adding operational complication to ensure that city council members get their fair share of tickets to events (get kickbacks) will only harm the efficiency of the process. My recommendation would be to remove those perks all together.
I will be unable to be at the next /Sandy City Council meeting since I have been asked to attend and serve on the Utah Medical Association Legislative Committee, and they have their quarterly meeting this Tuesday evening. Because I will not be there, I have sent a comment about approving Steve VanMaren for the Historical Committee. In case this comment did not go through, here is what I sent:
During many council meetings as well as educational meetings, I have had the opportunity to converse with Steve VanMaren. He is very meticulous at investigating the options and contents of all agenda items and has been fully involved with the history of Sandy. During our conversations, he is always considerate and able to discuss and consider all the available options for what is being presented. His consistent and durable attendance at the meetings as well as the long amount of time that he has historically been involved make him an excellent candidate for the Historic Committee. I fully recommend and support his appointment to this position.
Please vote for Steve!
Appreciatively,
