The flash survey results and comments as well as the responses to earlier surveys indicate that many residents are opposed to paying to make expensive renovations or to reconstuct the Alta Canyon Sports Center. While it does serve a purpose for the physical and emotional well-being of some residents and a place to build a sense of community for the patrons, those needs can be met in other places and other ways. Since none of you were serving when this facility was approved and built, it is not your fault, but a number of the flash survey comments indicate that it is considered a facility in a special district that many don't use and have no desire to support financially. Based on the prior comments of City Council Members, I know many of you love the Alta Canyon Sports Center and support the proposal. If the city had unlimited funds, or there was a way to rebuild or remodel without taxpayers paying for it, I would also support it. Sadly, that is not the case. I urge you to seriously consider the financial circumstances of ALL Sandy residents, their needs, and their opinions before voting on this proposal.
