I support all these projects! I would like to see Alta Canyon as one of the top priorities. With so many people in Sandy having to go to other rec centers or gyms it would be nice to keep it local. If the plan include an indoor pool and walking/running track this would give so many people options for those winter months. Moving our bodies has been proven to help with mental illness and having somewhere to go with these amenities is so helpful! Also I’ve seen so many high school kids working there in the summer at the pool that with an indoor pool this would offer them a place to work year round!
I feel that Fire Station #31 and the Public Works Building need to take priority over Alta Canyon. Everyone benefits from public safety and public works. I've used Alta Canyon once in the 29 years that I have lived in Sandy City and that was because I had a free pass from the Healthy Sandy walks that we used to have. Many Sandy residents, especially in the historic area, can't afford to go to Alta Canyon. I think it is nice to have and I'm in favor of letting businesses get naming rights to help fund it, but it is at the bottom of my priority list and I don't want to pay for something I'll probably never use.
