    Attn: City Council, Mayor, and Police Chief;

    I’ve lived in Sandy for the last 6 years. I grew up in Sandy for 10 years as an adolescent. Sandy is definitely the place that I call home. I’ve always thought that this city’s police presence has been a good deterrent to criminals. I’ve owned the Ring and the Software app that comes along with Ring for the last 2 years. Within the last year, my wife and I have noticed increased crime alerts and neighbor alerts on the app pertaining to Car Break-ins, Package thefts, and surprisingly multiple stolen cars within a few mile radius of our home. We think that we live in a safe neighborhood right around the Hidden Valley Country Club, but we’ve seen increased crime. I’m not sure if the criminals are more organized now? Or if the culture in Utah is changing and this increased crime is due to an influx of people moving to Utah? Though I’d like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. According to the Ring App, most of this crime is taking place between 2-5 AM. That being said, I’m sure that we probably don’t have the police force to patrol every neighborhood? Maybe there is a way to find some of the more problematic areas through the data on the Ring App to be able to patrol those areas? Maybe you are already doing this? I’ve thought of doing a neighborhood watch in my own neighborhood since I’ve looking into the implementation of placing a gate at the front of the neighborhood, which isn’t possible since it is a public access and not a private neighborhood. I don’t know the ultimate solution, other than citizens locking their car doors, fetching their packages in a timely manner. Patrols could help in more problematic areas. Thank you!
